Heya there!

So, you see, a good friend of mine is reviving his old DA account, so I thought I'd let you guys know! He is, and has always been, an amazing artist. So check him out: :iconhugopetrus:

Pheew, back from two very intense days at the Book Fair in Frankfurt. We met a lot of new contacts, editors and fellow illustrators, and generally, the feedback was really positive. Let's hope something comes out of it! It was certainly a LOT better than last year, because we prepared our portfolio with lots of time in advance and always keeping the publishers in mind.
So! Fingers crossed.

For now, I am going to retreat and sleep. a. lot. I am completely exhausted.
See ya!
Heya there!

Some might know that I've been working for a school book (for Germany) for the past 5 months. Sooo... I finished that about a week ago. Yay!
I'm afraid I can't upload anything about that yet - but I will as soon as I can! I really want to show you. :)

It was a great project, with a very very nice editor, so I enjoyed that a lot and hope to do something like it again in the future. It was also SUCH a big change compared to my previous comic work to *gasp* be able to take my weekends off without feeling guilty! What a luxury that is.

So what's up next? I have no idea. XD  I'll take the rest of July off, I think, and work on some new portfolio additions. So you can expect to be seeing some new work from me. ^^

Then come August or September - when the summer holidays are over for everyone - I'll start contacting new potentioal clients again and see what happens. Maybe something will come up on its own until then anyway. And October has the Frankfurt Book Fair again, and this year we will be MUCH better prepared for it.

That's the plan. But for now: A lot of sleep, gardening and enjoying the gorgeous summer weather we're having lately (and about time, too)! :D
Heya everyone!

Some might have seen it in my Deviations (…), some might not, which is why I'll post it here again just in case anyone missed it:
My hubby and I are hosting a small giveaway over at our Facebook page and our blog!
We'll be raffling 10 of each of our new postcards, so if you'r interested, head over there to participate. ^____^

Right now we haven't had many people joining in, so you'd have a 100 % chance of getting a card! ;)

Come on guys, please help us spread the word a little! Pretty please? ^^

Anyway, here are the links (you'll have to scroll down a little bit):

So. My agent told me yesterday that the comic project I had been working for almost a year now, and which I mentioned last time had been put on hold, is finally being cancelled. Apparently, the previous titles (the "My Boyfriend is a Monster" series) just didn't sell enough. Ah well, stuff happens.

Now I'm kind of mourning the loss of this... companion of mine, which had been with me for so long and I thought would still last quite some months more. I'm sad because I really, really enjoyed the characters, and nobody else is ever going to "meet" them, and I myself will never know how the story ends. I only got the script up to page 86 out of 124. Heck, I don't even know what the author's name was.

I hope they allow me to at least upload some sketches and pages, since it will never see the light of day otherwise, and I'd like to show you some of it.

So yeah - one companion lost, but if there's one thing I learned from The Doctor (which is my current nerd obsession - and please, no spoilers because I'm only halfway through season 4!), when you lose one companion, you just need to find a new one. ;)

This means that all possibilities are open to me now! I mean, I do have another project (the school book thingie) which will last until May or June, but that's not so much time, and I sort of need to think about where to go from here now. Pick up my own comic project again? Try to break into advertising illustration? Children's books? So many possibilities now. I'll try and see it as an adventure, and as a chance to do what I'd like to do most right now. I don't know what that is yet. But I'll figure it out, and to a certain extent, let life find its own way, as it always does.

Anyway, I think this post is a way for me to find some sort of closure.
And now.

[Edit: Now my agent tells me he'll be talking to another publisher at the Bologna Book Fair who MIGHT want to buy the rights of this comic project and finish it. I don't really believe they will, though, so I'll just ignore this. I don't feel like waiting around for months.]
Hello, everyone! I thought it would be nice to write a new entry here, considering I'm not uploading any images lately.

The new year's starting our quite well - I just started a new job for a new publisher doing school book illustrations. It's only been about 2 weeks since I started, but it's already being loads of fun. And I love that I'm actually not expected to work on weekends! Ah, the freedom. Plus, it's much better paid than my previous jobs (let's face it, that's not very hard anyway).

Talking about previous jobs, I had also been working on a new graphic novel since last year and I'm only about halfway done, but for now it has been put on hold by the publisher for whatever reasons. It works out fine for me because of the abovesaid job, but I'll resume it eventually, of course.

Neither one of those jobs really allows me to reveal any images or details, so hence the absence of uploads. :)

My husband :iconrueda: has so far not found a job yet, but we're working on it and definitely not giving up. Something will come up eventually. In the meantime, he announced he'd be upldating his DeviantArt account more regularly, so if you're curious you can check it out.

OK, enough blabbering! I apologize for the lack of new images and wish you all a very happy weekend! :D

It seems I have finally found a print shop where they have a good quality and the kind of paper I was looking for, so I was thinking of producing some prints to sell.

My idea is to sell high-quality prints on natural-looking paper, like Fedrigoni Woodstock Betulla, or Fedrigoni Constellation Snow E / E08 Tela Fine. I haven't decided on which one yet. The prints will be limited editions with very small print runs (like 25 or so), each one signed, the size probably Din A4 or 20 x 28 cm, a standart size which makes it easy to find frames for. Price might be about 10 € (+ shipping), or 15 € if I decide to go for bigger (A3, more or less) prints.

So folks, what do you say?
Would you be interested in buying them?
How much would you be willing to pay?
Is there any particular piece you'd like?
Which size would you prefer?

My obvious choice would be to make this one as a print, since it is my most popular piece:
When I had white wings... by SonPan
But if there's any other illustrations you'd like, please tell me! =D

Heya there,

so I've been pretty inactive again lately. Just so you know, that's because I'm working again on a new project in the "My Boyfriend is a Monster" series. And unfortunately, I can't really post anything from that - well I might post a couple of random panels, if you're interested. Spoiler-free, of course. ;)

Other than that, :iconrueda: and I are getting along with smaller commissions as Artil Studio, though we still need to seek out more clients. We need to start preparing for the Frankfurt Book Fair in October.

Aside from work, we adopted a 7-year old rescue dog 3 weeks ago, and the first weeks have been kind of crazy. He's sweet as can be, but we need to teach him so much, the poor boy doesn't even know the basic commands. Well, we've taught him to sit by now, so he knows one. :XD:
He's terribly attached to me though, which in itself isn't a bad thing, but he never hangs out with my husband when he can be with me, and that's kind of sad.
Anyway! I posted a pic of him on my blog, just in case you're curious.

OK, back to work! :)

I don't know if "project" is the right word for this, but anyway: :iconrueda: and I are starting a new website / studio together! =D
It's still in the making, but you can already check it out, if you want:

We'll see how it goes, but we've already made some new contacts with whom we hope work will arise at one time or another. :)

So, there's another artist recommendation here on DA I'd like to share with you. Please check out :iconblackpanda:'s gallery!

She's an amazing artist in many ways, but especially in sculpting. She can create almost anything you can imagine. :D
And, because she just launched her official website, you should go and check that out, too:

Giant Octopus II by blackpanda Leda Maquette by blackpanda panda 2 by blackpanda Dead swan by blackpanda

I just opened my new little online shop at Big Cartel - go check it out!

I plan on selling original artwork as well as signed prints there, as soon as I have some.

For now, there's only one product: 3 signed copies of "Black is for Beginnings", each with a small original drawing of a different character. You can choose the one you like best!

Black is for Beginnings girls - FOR SALE by SonPan

Anyway, I'll be sure to keep you posted whenever there are new products available! :D

Oh, and if you want you can let me know which of my illustrations you'd like to see as a print!
No fanart though, sorry - I don't want to risk copyright issues.

Phew, so it's done! My husband :iconrueda: and I have finally moved into our new house in Germany. Well, we've now been here for one week already, to be exact. There are still things to be unpacked, and we still have to buy more shelves and stuff, but mostly we're pretty much settled in. What a busy week it was! And we already had quite a few visitors, too. :)
AND we already scratched out new (but second-hand) car, haha. We're pretty much novice drivers, so that was to be expected. ^^;

Now I hope we can relax a little the next days, and I hope I can soon start drawing and painting again. But my mind's still on so many other things right now. XD

Many might already have seen it, but for those who didn't read it, here it is again: I'll be raffling my latest watercolor piece (yes, the real thing, not a print or something like that) "Fiery Sky" among all those who become fans on my facebook page and share it with their friends!

You do need to leave a comment on the FB post about the raffle, too - but that's just for keeping track and not exclude anyone by accident.

Please help me spread my work on Facebook, I could seriously need more people to notice me - earning money as an artist ain't easy, you know! ^^;

Anyway, go check it out! =D

Okay, I now need to do a very special feature. My husband :iconrueda: is on DA too, and after a long time of absence he's finally re-taking his account and tending to it, so you should go check it out! ;)

Hi everyone!

2011 has come and gone, and 2012 has already started, so I wanted to wish you all a very happy new year! Let's all try to improve our craft and move forward on our ways!

This is actually going to be a very exciting year for me, since my husband :iconrueda: and I will be moving into our new house in Germany next month, so we will be starting a new phase in our lives! I really look forward to it.

About the same time, I should be starting my new comic project as well. Or so I hope, since the script can always get delayed.
Nevertheless, I want to keep working on my own project as well to be able to present it to editors this year. And I'll also try to draw stuff that I can actually upload online for all of you to see!

As you might notice, I will certainly have my hands full this year. In a good way, though! :aww:

Oh, on a different matter, please follow my still-new Facebook page and my not-so-new blog! I will usually post new pictures there first, and also stuff that I don't ever upload here on DA at all.

Cheers! :highfive:

Hi everyone!

So, I was wondering, would anyone be interested in commissions?
I've never done any on DA before, but right now I've no full-time project to work on, so I have time for that sort of things. ^^

Just send me a note if you're interested.

          Din A4: 70 € │ 92.69 $
          + 25 € │ 33.10 $ for every additional character

I will usually draw the characters from the waist / hips up or bust. If you would like a full body illustration, I might have to charge a little more because the time and effort invested would be higher. I hope you can understand - but don't hesitate to send me a note if you do want a full body shot!

Please note that none of these examples were actual commissions (since I'm new to this), so they're actually just samples so you can see my skill level.
In terms of composition, the watercolor illustrations would be closest to what I have in mind.

Payment via .

I will send you a High-Res TIFF file (300 dpi) of your illustration.

I suggest you pay me the first half of the price after I send you the sketchof the drawing, and then the second
after the piece is finished.

If you would like me to send you the original art, just let me know. Of course I'd have to charge an extra shipping fee for that.

To prevent anyone's time to be wasted, I'd ask anyone who wants to commission me to accept the following rules:

1) I will not do any of the following:
          Anything offensive.
          Anything with violent content.
          Anything explicitly sexual.*
Any highly detailed backgrounds (unless I choose so myself).
Machines. Cause I suck at 'em.

2) No major changes once I've started working on your commission.
I won't start over a piece just like that, or change a complete pose, or whatever. (This is just in case, I know most people are very considerate. =) )
Minor changes (e.g. "That character's belt should look a little different" or "the right arm does seem a little too long") are okay in the sketching stage only. Past that (in the cleanup, ink, or color stage) I won't make any changes anymore.

3) The commissions are for personal use only! You may not use them for commercial aims.
If you want a commission for commercial use, please contact me so we can talk about the conditions.

*Breasts are okay with me, so are nudes if the genitalia are hidden somehow, but that's as far as it goes.

Now I just hope somebody actually wants me to draw something for him/her... I'll definetely do my best! =D

Hi everyone!

I don't really know if there's anyone out there who actually reads my entries, but it's been over 2 years since the last one! So I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep things a little more up to date.

The last post was when I finished "Black is for Beginnings", but since then I've drawn 2 more graphic novels. "My Boyfriend is a Monster: I Love Him to Pieces" came out in April this year, and the next one is another installment of the same series, titled "I Date Dead People". I just finished that one about a month ago, and it will be published in April next year.

Here are the Amazon links for both of them:
"I Love Him to Pieces", story by Evonne Tsang
"I Date Dead People", story by Ann Kerns

So, what's next?
I might do yet another installment in the series. No contract yet, so let's hope nobody changes his/her mind. ;)

Other than that, I'll be trying to get an old project of my own running to be presentable to editors. I'm having a tough time with that, it's hard to write your own stories when you've done somebody else's for so many years.

On a personal note, I got married last August, and just some weeks ago, my now-husband and I signed the contract for a house purchase in Germany!
We hope we can move in by the beginning of the new year. So happy to finally move out of the tiiiiiiiny flat we've been living in for  4 years (working both from home, that means every day, all day, in the same room next to each other)! Every one of us having an own office room for himself, that's such a dream come true!

And that's that. I could go into more detail, but the shorter I keep this the more people might actually read it, right? XD
So, until next time (which I hope will be sooner than in 2 years)! =D

Yep, that's right, I finally finished the book "Black is for Beginnings" yesterday! ^^

For those of you who don't know what that's about yet, check out this page:…

And well, I'll be having my fist real free holiday time ever since I started Kairi (that was 3 years ago), so I intend on enjoying it very much. :D

And then in July I'll start working on my next project. I can't tell you yet what it's about, though. You know how this is. ;)

Hey, I just found out that you can already view the cover for "Black" on Flux's website!

So I guess it won't be a problem to show it to you, although I won't post it on Deviantart just yet.

Here's the link to the Flux site:

Oh, and it seems it will be coming out in september. :D
Didn't know that yet, I only knew it was planned for summer-fall 2009. But, there you are. September. ^^
