Pepino by SonPan Pepino by SonPan
Ooooh, it's been ages since I uploaded something here. I don't use DA much anymore, in case you haven't noticed. This is partly due to the fact that I simply am not allowed to upload some of the work I did for clients (or don't feel this is the right place to show it) and partly because I find DA very confusing lately.

Anyway. So, we got a new dog one month ago. Some people who've seen some of my previous work might know we had a sweet, sweet dog named Teddy, but unfortunately he got very sick last november and we had to put him down in december. :(

For two illustrators working at home, who barely leave the house anyway, not having a dog was not an option. So it didn't take us long to find a new furry household member. He's a rescue as well and originally comes from Spain. :D

Pepino is, in terms of looks, astonishingly similar to Teddy, only he's quite a bit smaller. The similarity is quite uncanny, actually. That was a huge coincidence and we weren't looking for that at all! But we just fell in love with the little guy.

Unlike Teddy, who we believe must have suffered from a canine form of chronic depression (poor guy, we loved him dearly anyway), Pepino is a very happy little dog. He loves nothing more than cuddles and every form of affection. Ah, he's so sweet and a little sunshine.

OK, enough talk. Three little sketches like these don't even deserve that much text. ^^"

Thank you! He's an amazing little dog, and we do love his name. It means "cucumber" in Spanish. :D   His nicknames include "Pepinillo" (pickled gherkin) and "Pepinator" (from the movie "Terminator"), among others. He listens to all of them.

Those are some awesome names :)

Makes me think of some of the names my dad gives our dog in Portuguese, like Sweet Potato (Batata Doce)

Thank you!

Yes, we were so sad to lose Teddy, but we are happy that we could provide him with a loving home for the 2 1/2 years that he stayed with us. He was so broken when we got him, and even though he never fully healed (he was way past that, I think), he improved SO much and that made us very proud.

I certainly hope Pepino will stay with us a lot longer than 2 1/2 years! He's really turning out quite wonderful, very very loving and cuddly and happy, he brings us a lot of joy. :aww:
